The Minister for Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, received the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, on Monday November 9, 2020.

Mr Le Drian, who is making his third visit to Morocco, was accompanied by the Ambassador in Rabat, Mrs Hélène Le Gal, Mr Samer Melki and Mr Christophe Farnaud, respectively, Advisor to the Minister and Director for North Africa and the Middle East.

During this meeting, the two Ministers discussed, in particular, the exceptional bilateral relations, which continue to strengthen on several levels. They also discussed subjects of common interest, such as the Libyan crisis and the security situation in the Sahel.

Franco-Moroccan relations owe their excellence to a commitment at the highest level of both States, renewed during the recent meetings between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron.

Bilateral relations are marked by a Multidimensional Strategic Partnership and by the maintenance of a dense and regular dialogue. In this respect, French officials have increased the number of visits to Morocco this year. The most recent being that of the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Gérald Darmanin, in October 2020.
