‘’The inauguration of the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Laayoun, is a consolidation of the historical relations between our two countries’’ —Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Emirati Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said in a video message that was broadcast during the inauguration ceremony of the General Consulate of his country, on Wednesday November 4th, 2020, that: ‘’The inauguration of the UAE Consulate General in Laayoun is a consolidation of the strong and strategic Emirati-Moroccan relations that will know a new impetus.’’
At the end of this ceremony, co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita and the Emirati Ambassador in Rabat, H.E Mr. Al Asri Saeed Ahmed Aldhaheri, this video message confirmed the depth of relations between our two countries, as demonstrated by the decision to establish a Consulate General in Laayoun.
The Emirati Minister also took this opportunity to recall that relations between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates are at the highest level and were established by the impetus of Late His Majesty Hassan II and Late Sheikh Zayed Ben Sultan Al Nahyane, since 1971.
In this message, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his pride in the excellence of the ties of fraternity and friendship between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, stating that : "the position of the United Arab Emirates is constant in supporting Morocco in the defense of its just causes in various regional and international forums, this support reflects the fruitful bonds of fraternity and cooperation between the two brotherly states".
The Emirati Minister commended the pioneering role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, in pursuing coordination and consultation, with the wise leadership of the Emirati State, in terms of upholding peace, stability and security in the region, as well as support for international and UN efforts aimed at resolving conflicts at the regional and global levels.
